Confirmation Program

For over 15 years, our Confirmation program has been a moving force in the spiritual development of our youth! Students join their friends in discovering and experiencing what faith is all about.

Confirmation is a two-year program that is offered to students in the eighth grade or older. Each year of the two-year program is divided into two semesters, which run from September through November, and January through Easter, meeting on Monday evenings. The first half of each evening session involves a worship service experience in the Sanctuary. The latter half of the evening for all classes is held in the Sacristy exploring Faith to Life Application with Linda Motter. A letter with sign-up details introducing the availability of the program is sent to prospective youth and their parents within our DUMC/FUMC community during the second week of August each year.

Our church community is blessed with a very high interest in this spiritual program, so we usually divide both years of students into two classes: Class A & Class B.  (We try to keep each class to not more than 12 members for the best group dynamics.) The typical schedule is as follows:

Confirmation I Class A 6:00 - 7:00 pm
Confirmation I Class B 6:30 - 7:30 pm
Confirmation II Class A 7:00 - 8:15 pm
Confirmation II Class B 7:45 - 9:00 pm

Each confirmation student selects an adult mentor to be an adult friend in faith during their confirmation journey. It is an honor and a privilege to be asked to be a mentor. Mentors pray for their students every day, and form friendships that typically last long after the Confirmation program has completed.

If you have any questions regarding the Confirmation program, please call Pastor Walt Edmonds or Pastor Linda Motter.
