The A-V Ministry Team provides audio and visual support for worship services, meetings, presentations, and other activities.
The Living Nativity and lighting support for the Living Christmas Tree are probably the most labor intensive support we provide. The subtle and not so subtle light enhancements that added so much to the Living Christmas Tree last December, were orchestrated by Will Holmes. After what I felt was perhaps the best lighting set-up we’ve done for the Living Nativity, it was cancelled due to bad weather.
I enjoy the A-V challenges presented by Cindy Fulton, The Minister of Education & head puppet instructor. David Stillwell was the lighting director for Vacation Bible School this past summer and also assisted with sound. Jared Willis came to our rescue when I needed additional help with sound during the Vacation Bible School Friday evening Closing Program.
A BIG THANK YOU to Will Holmes and Dan James, the audio & lighting technicians for the 8:15 am service. Josh Herndon joined us this year helping with audio & lighting at the 11 am service. He also assisted with audio for the Chorister Play.
Mike Springirth continues to produce professional quality videos that we use for various activities including worship and memorial services, Vacation Bible School, and Charge Conference. Mike also works with the 6th graders at Vacation Bible School to produce videos for VBS.
When someone asks about Power Point, Ted Constantinides is the first person I think of. He has produced and done presentations for many activities including worship services. Most, if not all of you, have seen his presentations during Sunday morning worship services.
Audio recordings are made of the 8:15 and 11 am services. As I am able, have also been recording video of the 11 am services. When audio files of the sermons are made available to him, Pastor Ricketts puts them on our church web sight, www.damascusumc.org.
As more groups and individuals become aware of the value and potential uses of Audio-Visual as an aid in their programs, the supporting role of the A-V Ministry is becoming more important. I feel it is time to consider a staff position for A-V Ministry. These duties could initially be under the guidance of another staff member such as an associate pastor, or the Minister of Education.
With more and more requests for audio-visual aid, it is imperative that more people become involved with this ministry.
