A Prayer from the Methodist Federation for Social Action
We pray that the Holy Spirit
will teach us how to love.
We pray to be filled with the love of Christ and the spirit of his peace.
We pray that we may follow Jesus’
commandment to love one another
and all our neighbors.
We pray to love those who reject
or harm others or us.
We pray to love those whom
we see as enemies.
We pray to love and live in a way that will bring shalom and justice to our world.
We pray that the sick, the wounded, the dying, the uninsured will experience
love and healing.
We pray that the oppressed, the fearful, the lonely will be released into
love and wholeness.
We pray that those plagued by war,
destruction, terrorism
will be restored to love and peace.
We pray that the homeless, the hunger,
the poor will be filled with
love and abundance.
By your Spirit make us one with Christ, one with each other,
and one in ministry to all the world.
