The Harwood House Thrift Shop makes every effort to keep their expenses to a minimum; and this fact, coupled with the generosity of church and community donors, enables them to maintain a thrift shop with three-fold benefits. First, they are able to provide moderately priced clothing and household items to local families. Second, donors can clean closets and cabinets, attics and garages, and receive a tax deduction for unwanted items. And third, funds received from sales are used to support a variety of mission efforts. In 2005 Harwood House Thrift Shop supported 30 local charities, in addition to mission efforts of Damascus United Methodist Church and the Baltimore Washington Conference.
