Fall Mission Project
Each fall, the Sunday School classes work to earn money towards helping others in need. In 2008, the children, with the help of our generous congregation, raised more than $7000 for Heifer Project International.
This year (2009) our Sunday School students are doing extra chores to raise money to buy shoes for children in Nicaragua. Amanda Jones tells us that the children walk long distances over rough paths with no shoes or ill-fitting shoes. What a blessing it will be for them to have good, comfortable shoes to wear!
How Can You Help?
We are asking members of the congregation to adopt a Sunday School class or a Sunday School student and challenge them to earn money towards the goal of buying shoes for needy children in Nicaragua.
Thank you for helping our children learn what it means to be followers of Christ. Your continued prayers and encouragement of our children in their desires to help others is greatly appreciated.
Our mission project will run during the months of October and November, ending on November 29, 2009. Donations can be made by check to DUMC with the annotation of “Sunday School Mission Project.”
Any questions? Please contact Cathy Scarbrough at (301) 972-6844 or Cindy Fulton at (301) 253-2439.
God bless you and thank you.
Spring Mission Project
Each year during Lent, our Sunday School classes spend 6 weeks collecting food items for Damascus Help. During Lent 2009, over 1000 items were collected!
